A friend sent me a beautiful picture yesterday, but I couldn’t tell if it was real or AI-generated. Maybe part of the heaviness I’m feeling lately is because I’m a girl who deeply values authenticity, and it’s hard to tell what’s genuine anymore. Airbrushing, filters, fillers, posting only our best self on social media. All this gives the appearance that everything is easy and flawless, when in reality, life is really hard and messy.
